Today, as we commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, we reflect on our nation’s journey from colonial rule to self-determination and progress. Enshrined in the Public Holidays Act of 1979, October 1st is designated as a public holiday, observed “as a work-free day” throughout the Federation, allowing us all to pause and honor our shared heritage.
This day is not only a celebration of our past but also a call to action for our future. Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria is undergoing significant reforms aimed at revitalizing our economy, enhancing national security, and fostering inclusive development. His administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability has been evident in initiatives such as the Petroleum Industry Act, which has attracted over $5.5 billion in investments and increased oil production by approximately 200,000 barrels per day Reuters.
As members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we stand united in support of President Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria. The APC remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering the youth, promoting good governance, and ensuring that the promise of a better Nigeria becomes a reality for every citizen.
On behalf of the APC West Africa Youth Wing, I extend my warmest wishes to all Nigerians. May this Independence Day renew our sense of patriotism and inspire collective action toward nation-building.
Happy Independence Day!
